‘You shall not pass!’ is what this little idol has been saying for approximately 1,500 years. During the excavation of a tomb in Villa de Alverez in Mexico, the figure was found at the entrance of the crypt holding some kind of weapon.
The shaman figure was likely guarding the main body in the crypt, but seeing as there are two bodies and space for a third in the tomb area, archaeologists are still unsure who they were spiritually guarding.
Earthenware pots and bowls were also found at the site, which researchers believe belonged to a wealthy culture due to the amount of artefacts found in the funerary area.
