Notebook and ship found in Turkey

At the 8,500 year old Yenikapi excavation site in Turkey, a research team have found rare and wonderful discoveries including a Byzantine notebook, sunken ships and organic products like animal meat.


Horse and donkey meat were primarily found, which suggests the ancient culture lived here dined on these animals, but they 57 different kinds of animals including dolphin and sea turtle. What makes this discovery so rare is that these organic products were preserved after thousands of years, impressing the scientific world.

The sunken wooden boats the team excavated is pretty much complete, which will result in a replica of it being made and sailed upon.


One of the most interesting discoveries was a wooden notebook inside one of the ships. The notebook opens up and slides can be written upon with wax. This invention is likely comparable to our modern-day computers.
