Coins, tweezers amongst Roman discoveries in Leicester

Archaeologists working on a Roman villa in Leicester have discovered an array of artefacts including coins, tweezers and ceramics.

The villa dates back 2,000 years and is a significant find in the area. Chris Wardle, Leicester City Council archaeologists, says “It had been realised for some time that Leicester began to emerge as an important tribal centre before the arrival of the Roman legions in the mid-first century AD”
