Prehistoric elephant skull discovered

A team of palaeontologists in New Mexico are excavating the skull of a Stegomastodon, which is one of the most intact ever found. The skull will be covered with plaster and transported to Alburquerque for analysis. The Stegomastodon went extinct approximately 1.3 million years ago.
