Viking treasure hoard found in Scotland

Metal detector enthusiast, Derek McLennan, stumbled upon a magnificent discovery – a treasure of Viking artefacts, found on land owned by the Church of Scotland.

The hoard consists of over 100 artefacts, and is the largest Viking discovery ever found. The finds are though to date back to the 9th and 10th centuries and contain various Christian symbols such as an early cross made of symbol with unusual carvings.

Amongst the findings include silver arm rings, a gold ring, a gold bird pin, a silver pot and much more!

The discovery is under the protection of the Treasure Trove Unit in Scotland and is said to be worth a six figure sum.
