Missing Sphinx head found during Amphipolis dig

The missing head of the Sphinx on the eastern side of the second chamber has been discovered within third chamber. Many wonderful discoveries have arisen during the Amphipolis dig, with the occupant of the tomb still “up in the air”, but archaeologists suggest it was someone connected to royalty. The head of the sculpture has remnants of red paint that once covered her hair.
