Stone Age footprints found in Denmark

During the excavation of the Femern Bælt Tunnel, archaeologists came across an unlikely discovery, footprints dating back 5,000 years.Denmark_01

The prints are suggested to have been made by fisherman of the area during a flood, which left the sediment in the soft mud. Found alongside a metre long system of fishing weirs, it’s thought that these fisherman were trying to safeguard the weirs before the flood destroyed it.

Further investigations have shown that these weirs were built and repaired on a common basis. The team are hoping these footprints will yield more information about this ancient community.
